Gómez Porchini, Treviño & Langley is a language services company located in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Since 2004, Isabel Gómez Porchini and Guadalupe Gómez Porchini have offered their translating, interpreting and English classes and training services to the local maquiladora industry, city government, lawyers and doctors, to mention just a few. Their experience includes translating documents in areas such as tourism, safety and health, engineering, construction, legal documents, medicine and business. Gómez Porchini, Trevino & Langley voluntarily complies with the UNE-EN-15038 standard for translation processes and work with wide network of professional translators to different languages. They belong to several professional translators’ organizations, such as Asociación de Traductores e Intérpretes de Monterrey, AC (ATIMAC), Organización Mexicana de Traductores (OMT) and American Translators Association (ATA).
Besides their experience in the maquiladora industry and in the medical and education fields, they are speakers on business and translating topics and are contributing writers for several local publications. They have twice been guest speakers at the Translator’s Conference organized by the Organización Mexicana de Traductores, which is held during the International Book Fair in Guadalajara. In 2009 their conference was titled “The Effect of Translations on Everyday Language” and in 2011 “To be or not to be: freelancing vs. translating company.”
The owners of GPT&L are founding members of Asociación Mexicana de Mujeres Empresarias, Capítulo Matamoros, affiliated to FCEM, since 2006. Isabel Gómez Porchini and Guadalupe Gómez Porchini, respectively, held the offices of president and secretary of AMMJE during the period from 2008 to 2010. Guadalupe de Trevino is the current Vicepresident of AMMJE. In addition to their participation in the AMMJE Matamoros Chapter, they are active in several other business, cultural and service organizations.
